We are located in the geographic centre of the Catlins Coastal Rainforest Park. We are just 800 meters from the iconic Cathedral Caves and spectacular McLean Falls. Just a short drive to Lake Wilkie and Tautuku walking beach. Just 12 km south of Papatowai, we are easy to find, at the McLean Falls turnoff, on the Southern Scenic Route.Choose from a range of cottages, motel rooms, classy cabins, sheltered tent sites and powered caravan and campervan sites.
Whilst staying with us in The Catlins New Zealand, you can experience some amazing sights. The rugged Catlins Coastline and the Catlins temperate Rainforest are home to many species of wildlife including Dolphins, Penguins and Seals. Don't forget the scenic marvels 
of Curio Bay, The nuggets, the Cathedral Caves to name a few.
When you return from a day of sightseeing, relax in your accommodation. Choose from luxurious self contained chalets, motel suites or a 2 bedroomed cottage. For the budget traveller, we offer Kiwiana Cabin accommodation and Backpackers will be thrilled with our Backpacker cabins. For Catlins camping, we have powered and non powered sites, suitable for RV,s campervans or tents.

The Catlins is a truly pristine environment. They comprise the largest remaining stand of Native Forest left on the East Coast of the South Island, of New Zealand. This unique Temperate Coastal Rainforest is host to many native species of birds and sea life. We are all indeed privileged to be in this very special and unspoilt part of the world.
In order to preserve this special place in paradise, Catlins McLean Falls Eco Holiday Park, has a Carbon Neutral Environmental Goal. As part of this goal, we have retired two working sheep farms in the Catlins and planted trees to absorb the green house gases produced in the course of our motor caravan holidays. In July 1996, we planted one million trees in the Tahakopa Valley, Catlins, immediately adjacent to this property.
In constructing this Holiday Park we have used recycled buildings where ever possible, most built in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
The Kiwiana two person cottages were built in the South Island and used to house the single men who built the many dams along the Clutha River. They were used at Borland Lodge Youth Adventure Camp for many years and were to be scrapped. We purchased them and have restored and enhanced them to be used for your enjoyment, with a little twist of nostalgia and additional comfort way beyond what was experienced by the workers!
The ablution block comes from the Karitane Motor Camp near Dunedin and the common room was rescued from an old house near Wyndham.
The motel block was saved from the Luxmore Hotel in TeAnau. The bunkhouse is a school building from Southern Institute of Technology in Invercargill.
Chalets
These upscale, 1 bedroom units are fully self contained. Complete with well appointed kitchen, dining and lounge areas. Our own design, these Chalets will be pure comfort. Handcrafted furnishings, upholstered leather chairs - everything here assures a comfortable stay in your Catlins accommodation.
Luxmore Ensuite Motels
Fully appointed studio rooms, double or twin beds. Quality linens, towel sets, toiletries, electric blankets, heater, reading lights, tea & coffee facilities plus mini fridge assures added comfort. Plus, a separate, well equipped kitchen, for the exclusive use by all Motel guests, is provided for added comfort. Wheelchair friendly. These Catlins Motel suites are comfortable accommodation for all.
Bellbird Cottage
Our 2 bedroom, completely self-contained, self catering cottage with private covered verandah. Fully appointed kitchen (cooktop and microwave), dining & living area. Great family accommodation for your Catlins holiday.
Kiwiana Cabins -modern park amenties
These cabins, complete with a covered deck, are sited for privacy and peace. Each fully carpeted cabin accommodates up to 2 people. Perfect budget Catlins accommodation!
Borland Cabins: backpacker style - modern park amenties
Cosy carpeted cabin sleeps 1-2 people. Modern kitchen, toilets and showers are separate. Private covered deck. Catlins accommodation for the evn more budget conscious!
Comfort Camping
Centrally located in the heart of the Catlins, next to iconic Cathedral Caves and McLean Falls, our camping area has it's own onsite restaurant . It features drained sites and a modern Flush Dump Station. Fabulous for when you bring your own accommodation with you.
All of our Catlins accommodation is comfortable and well appointed. WiFi Internet available within a walk from your accommodation, as is our fabulous restaurant and Cafe.
Our level, all- weather,
powered van sites, keep your feet dry and mud-free. Parking on two levels provides views of the surrounding bush, with space to spread out a little. Many are special, two-to- a- berth van sites, allowing room for your travelling buddy, but are trellised for privacy, with your own flax planter, all ready for ‘happy hour’. They are close to the amenities, dump station, and are wheel chair friendly.
Our sheltered tent sites are on drained grass terraces, not all crammed together. Many have power. Enjoy nature at you back door and views to match.
