Two Little Boys

Two Little Boys, Catlins windfall!
The usually slow period between the middle of January and the beginning of February, saw a windfall for local Catlins hospitality providers, charities and businesses when the 80 strong, cast and crew arrived en-mass, in the the Catlins, for filming of the Two Little Boys, a dark comedy set in the Catlins.
This screen play and book,  was written by Duncan Sarkies of Dunedin and directed by brother, Rob Sarkies, of Scarfies and Out of the Blue fame.
Paul Bridson, a local Catlins proprietor of the McLean Falls Holiday Park and Whistling Frog Cafe, said that there was not a spare room in the entire Catlins last weekend when filming was going on at Jack’s Blowhole and the McLean Falls.
The cast and crew stayed at the Park and the overflow filled rooms all the way to Kaka Point with Papatowai and Owaka also benefitting from the infusion of movie-making funds.
Ibby Ibbotson, the local postie and co-ordinator of the Catlins Lions support crew,  said that even the Lions benefitted, so that the local charities and fundraising efforts were well catered for by the fledgling movie industry that has seen an uptake in interest by film makers in the unique landscape features of the Catlins.
Mr Bridson, said that his Whistling Frog staff, who hosted the stars of the movie,  Hamish Blake, of Hamish and Andy fame and Bret McKenzie, of Flight of the Condors,  were a little star-struck and everyone was impressed by just how friendly and down-to-earth the cast and crew were. Many pictures being taken with the obliging celebs that were soon circulating on Facebook around the globe.
Filming is continuing and Hamish said he will be back for the Frog’s signature dessert,  Britains Best Dish, invented by reality TV winner, Alan Sinclair, one of the Frog’s dessert chefs.
